Capstone Reflection

Starting off at Radford University, I was not sure what I would undergo and who I was to become. When transferred to Radford University after leaving Ferrum college, I had many people doubt me upon my dreams or if I would even make it at Radford. But, even if I was timid, I still made a decision to take a leap a faith and follow what I believe was right for me. The first day I came to Radford I meet Dr. Tan, and I remember her helping me pick my classes for the semester I was  to start. I remember her saying how much she loved my name, and ever since that day when I would see her in the hallway she would always smile and say, " Hello Genevieve!". I Also have great memories of Dr. Corbin, how her class made me fell in love with Political Science and to pursue my degree with this major. Dr. Corbin was always so energetic the first moment she walked into class. She truly grabbed my attention and thanks to her she opened my eyes to traveling abroad and to pursuing a career within the government. It was kind moments such as these that made me fall in love with Radford, to be around professors who cared and a school where I could become someone one day successful.

As a senior now looking back at my adventures in Radford, I have to say Radford University helped evolved me into a woman I am today. I was thankfully presented so many opportunities that helped light my way to success! My sophomore year I transferred here to Radford. I didn't know where exactly each building was located and had no idea who anyone was. But I did know one thing, I wanted to make something of myself before I left this school as a graduate. Reflecting back to all of my achievements, it amazes my each and everyday that a girl who had a tragic car accident and lost her way was now obtaining a Bachelor Science degree, has traveled the world, brought a Latin sorority back to campus, and will soon be leaving to become a Officer in the United States Coast Guard. I call myself a "scholar citizen", because I am willing to go the extra mile to help others and myself achieve success. For me personally.a scholar citizen is not where you have been, but who you are to become and do. As my fellow Scholar-Citizen colleagues, I leave Radford university excited for the what the future had to hold and to inspire others to take a leap of faith and to follow their dreams.
