International Law Organization
(Scholar-Citizen class)

This class allowed me to explore various countries and their economical and political issues around the world. Since this course was a semester right before I left for my study abroad trip to Spain, it allowed to grasp a concept of the international issues citizens face in a daily basis.

My final project for this course was to research a current issue that is happening internationally. Since this was a group project, my partner and decided to base our topic about farmers and how  their economical means are starting to decrease due to technology. Thus, creating a issues where farmers are starting to loose profit and dealing with a increase of poverty levels. My partner and I studied how this developing issues can increase a problem for farmers and also consumers around the world. We also researched different opportunities to help this outcome and different organizations such as THRIVE, who help  farmers by brining in a fair trade into the market.

Skills learned/ improved:

Due to this class I believed my critical thinking and open mind to a variety of different countries customs have developed. As well as written/ oral communication and public speaking.

(POSC 360: Dr. Tay Tan)

When reflecting back on Dr. Tans course, I believe it was a great experience for me. He encouraged us to critically analyze the world around and it also helped increase my research skills. For example, I payed attention to international affairs but, not to the degree this course had me do. For this course, I had to be prepared every class period to research a new international topic to discuss with my class. Due to this course, it made me want to always stay aware of others circumstances around the world. Dr. Tan also helped us how to approach our public speaking difficulties we may have had and also to feel proud upon the research we have gathered. Due to this class, this is where my interest for study abroad came form.
